چکیده
Aims, Objectives and Background Approximately 2500 people suffer a traumatic cervical spinal fracture per year in the UK, of which 10–14% have an associated cord injury. Emergency department practice was changed after Sundstrom et al (2014) found existing evidence for spine collars to be weak. From April 2015 new guideline implemented Royal Derby Hospital removing routine use certain groups. This allowed patients who self-presented ED met Canadian C-spine criteria radiographic imaging remain free from immobilisation devices undergo standing plain films or self-position CT imaging. Method Design A retrospective case note review carried out 2009 September 2021. Patients with confirmed diagnosis were identified those did not arrive by ambulance selected analysis. Their notes reviewed site, time since injury, neurological symptoms clinical management. Results Conclusion Cervical diagnosed 30 each on average over study period. Fifteen cent conveyed ambulance. Over 70% presented more than 4 hours their The most common site injury C6/7 (50%) followed C2 (30%). Those emergency subsequently suffered no adverse outcomes. Self-presentation

Increased risk of death with cervical spine immobilisation in penetrating cervical trauma.
The purpose of this study was to determine if cervical spine immobilisation was related to patient mortality in penetrating cervical trauma. One hundred and ninety-nine patient charts from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center New Orleans (Charity Hospital, New Orleans) were examined. Charts were identified by searching the Charity Hospital Trauma Registry from 01/01/1994 to 04/...
متن کاملA comparison of conventional tube and EndoFlex tube for tracheal intubation in patients with a cervical spine immobilisation
BACKGROUND The EndoFlex is a new type of tracheal tube with an adjustable distal tip that can be bent without the use of a stylet. The aim of this study was to compare a standard endotracheal tube with the EndoFlex tracheal tube for intubation in patients with simulated cervical spine injury. METHODS A group of 60 patients without any kind of the cervical spine injury, classified as the ASA p...
متن کاملTracheal intubation in patients with rigid collar immobilisation of the cervical spine: a comparison of Airtraq and LMA CTrach devices.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Airtraq and CTrach in lean patients with simulated cervical spine injury after application of a rigid cervical collar. Eighty-six consenting adult patients of ASA physical status 1 or 2, who required elective tracheal intubation were included in this study in a randomised manner. Anaesthesia was induced using 1 microg kg(-1) fentany...
متن کاملEvaluation of the GlideScope for tracheal intubation in patients with cervical spine immobilisation by a semi-rigid collar.
Application of cervical collars may reduce cervical spine movements but render tracheal intubation with a standard laryngoscope difficult if not impossible. We hypothesised that despite the presence of a Philadelphia Patriot cervical collar and with the patient's head taped to the trolley, tracheal intubation would be possible in 50 adult patients using the GlideScope and its dedicated stylet. ...

AIM OF THE STUDY to gather clinical and laboratory data on rheumatoid arthritis patients with cervical spine damage (incidence and prevalence, correlation between duration of disease and the time of lesion onset, to assess signs and symptoms and the role of laboratory investigations). The spine is an axial organ with an important role in support and resistance. It is a pillar with a very comple...
